Herringbone StreetPrint stamped asphalt sealed in StreetBond 150 Pewter, a grey-on-grey commercial frontage in Mission, installed April 2025.
Grey on grey. The parking bays along this commercial frontage in Mission are herringbone StreetPrint stamped asphalt sealed in StreetBond 150 Pewter, a neutral grey with warm undertones that reads as slate or aged stone under overcast light, with the stall lines in white. Square One installed it in April 2025.
StreetPrint is an asphalt imprinting system: a heated steel template pressed into the asphalt so the herringbone is built into the surface, then StreetBond colour rolled into the imprint. The manufacturer publishes a 10–20 year service life for StreetPrint, a slip-resistant textured surface, and snowplow and de-icing salt safety. Pewter is one of more than fifty standard StreetBond colours the manufacturer publishes; a neutral was chosen here because it will date more slowly than a saturated colour.
The photograph shows the bays in front of the building's glass doors, the herringbone running the length of the frontage and the white lines set between the stalls. A property owner or developer planning a commercial frontage should ask to see the StreetBond colour card against the building's materials before choosing a tone; the pattern is built into the asphalt and the colour is what sets the mood.
