DecoMark and StreetBond coatings combined for two art installations at Victoria High School: a First Nations whorl at the entrance and a run of canoes down the plaza walk. Installed May 2024.

Two installations at Victoria High School, completed in May 2024. At the entrance, a First Nations whorl: a circle in deep red carrying faces and forms in brown, black and white, set into the concrete pad at the foot of the school steps. Down the plaza walk, a run of canoes: several canoe forms in a row on a teal field, with a grey band beside them carrying a globe, a hand and a feather.

Both pieces combine DecoMark and StreetBond, cut graphics and coated colour working together. DecoMark is a preformed thermoplastic for fully custom graphics, heat-fused to the pavement, which the manufacturer publishes with the same durability as standard road-marking thermoplastic. StreetBond is a water-based acrylic coating for asphalt or concrete, with an anti-skid aggregate and an 8+ year life cycle that is recoated rather than replaced.

The walk the canoes sit in is a red tile-pattern surface; Square One's captioned photographs record StreetPrint stamped asphalt on the Vic High approach and forecourt. The photographs here show the whorl from the steps, the canoe run from above with the school's brick and glass behind it, and the canoes close up. A school or district planning artwork in its grounds should ask for DecoMark where the figures need sharp edges and StreetBond where the design needs a field of colour.
