Lickman Interchange Improvements: TrafficPatternsXD Roundabout Markings
The Lickman Interchange project included significant infrastructure improvements to the north and south portions of the interchange, with a key feature being a new two-lane roundabout at the Yale Road and Luckakuck Way intersection. We were engaged to supply and install the decorative pavement markings as part of this broader road improvement project.
Roundabouts present a specific challenge for decorative pavement systems: the markings experience concentrated turning and braking forces from vehicles navigating the circular geometry. Standard thermoplastic or paint wears disproportionately fast in these zones.
TrafficPatternsXD at Roundabout Entries
We specified TrafficPatternsXD for the roundabout entry and crosswalk markings. The XD formulation is designed for exactly this use case — higher abrasion resistance, stronger bond to the asphalt substrate, and colour retention under the kind of repetitive stress that roundabout entry points generate.
The interchange also incorporates pedestrian crosswalk elements, where the decorative markings serve a dual purpose: improving visual definition of the crossing and contributing to the overall safety of the redesigned intersection.
